In order to prepare 5G, Cloud, and Big Data era, Telco infra-structure is evolving from traditional silo-like one to Software Defined Infrastructure, providing more flexibility, efficiency with high performance. As one of the leading innovator in telecommunication industry, SK Telecom is moving toward SDDC based on Rack Scale Architecture, through disaggregating resources and sharing them efficiently. At the same time, from storage point of view, NVMe SSD is becoming a key component for enterprise data center due to its high performance and low latency which are key requirements for Big data Analytic, Cloud Service, 4K media service. This is why we designed NV-Array, NVMe JBOF providing disaggregated high performance storage resources. It will be the disruptive approach to build HW appliance with storage requirements in ICT infra-structure. NV-Array supports 20 NVMe SSD in an 1U size to connect up to 8 servers through PCIe connection. NVMe SSD made by SK Telecom provides ultra-high IO speed. Plus, PCIe connection removed all kinds of performance overheads of HBA, which is used in traditional SAS based JBOD. So, NV-Array can provide extremely higher performance, in terms of higher IOPs, higher bandwidth, and lower latency. Multi-host connection provides high flexibility to build high performance appliance H/W by supporting various requirements of ratio between storage and computing. NV-ARRAY is the first step to build disaggregated data center. It will be one of the main component to lead revolution of SK telecom ICT Infrastructure to be the innovative SDDC.
